Writer, editor, Kentuckian, reader, cat lady, etc.

I write, edit and read across genres. I am an award-winning journalist with publications in newspapers such as the Washington Post, the Kentucky Kernel and the Florida Times-Union. I have been a newsroom editor and am currently a Marketing/Communications and Social Media Coordinator for the University of Kentucky’s Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. I earned my MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing in 2023 and am currently seeking publication of my thesis, a researched memoir about Kentucky civil rights pioneer Alice Allison Dunnigan. I have kept a journal since I was 13 and am often seen keeping for my journal what others would consider to be trash. As a reader, I enjoy everything from fantasy novels about dragons to memoirs about health to contemporary romance novels to nonfiction about the history of witches.

A lifelong Kentuckian originally from Bowling Green, I now live in Lexington with my husband, whom I married in a bookstore; my cats Leo McGarry and George O’Malley; my collection of 16 typewriters; and an alarming number of unread books.
