it’s a bird! it’s a plane! it’s Lois Lane!
The Justice Gang, if you will.
Loui and I just got home from seeing Superman, the newest big-screen depiction of the world’s favorite Kryptonian. (Don’t worry—no movie spoilers here.)
We met my uncle, my dad, two of my siblings, my future brother-in-law, and three dear family friends in the middle of our homes across the state so we could enjoy it together. This was my Uncle Jonathan’s idea since, throughout our childhoods, he’s always enthusiastically taken us to see the latest superhero or Star Wars movie. I was thankful to Uncle Jonathan for organizing everyone to coordinate our busy schedules and find a time when we could continue this tradition.
I love remembering our traditions throughout the years, and, as an avid pop culture fan, I love connecting films, music and books to different periods of my life. I love it so much that I’ve already written about it once, in a Kentucky Kernel column in 2019: Me! and another Spider-Man: How we grow up with pop culture.
Like I said, no spoilers on opening weekend, so I won’t say anything about the plot. But I loved the movie and the main characters—especially, surprising no one, Lois Lane. I’m a big fan of Rachel Brosnahan in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, so I was very excited to see her as the planet’s (Planet’s) best journalist.
It was, in my opinion, a great and heartwarming movie. So grab a few loved ones and go see the movie together. It’s what Superman would want.
